Tuesday Series

The evening will begin with a 30 minute workshop  with some of my favourite Edmonton facilitators who will off a presentation on a short and simple yet powerful practice you can incorporate in your daily life.  They will be tested and tried points they've come to deeply understand and love.  Unique and powerful.

(These 30 minute practices will be filmed and the distributed amongst the attendees as a tool to follow in the implementation of these practices if you so chose to take them on.  Awesome value)

Followed by a  90 minute dynamic practice led by me, sequenced and directed by the week's focus.  I'll offer an intelligently posture practice, breathing techniques to ingrate and organize the body's energies and meditation, with a hint of joy and gratitude to leave you feeling blissful, present and grounded.

Emergence at Prana Yoga

Emergence at Prana Yoga

Seasoned teachers and guides Andrew Misle and Kevin Gaudet have collaborated to create an offering aimed at evolving our personal aptitude as practitioners and our collective strength as community members. Emergence is born of a recognition of the outer and inner upheaval recent months may have created. Rather than attempt to categorize these upheavals as positive/negative or right/wrong, the ceremony will center around our prerogative and responsibility to adapt, grow and ultimately emerge as further embodied, and stronger yoga practitioners and citizens. This practice will be presented as a mini-retreat, with a 2.5 hour practice in the morning and a 2.5 hour practice in the afternoon/evening, with time before, after and in between sessions encouraged to be an opportunity for self-led rest, recovery, introspection and integration. Suggestions for how to spend the self-guided parts of the day will be provided in advance.

The day in its entirety can be considered both a practice and a ceremony, wherein you can expect a balance of fiery and uplifting, cooling and grounding, communal and individual. This will be accomplished through an artful selection and sequencing of postures, kriya and breathing techniques that Andrew is well known for. Meaningful connection will be fostered through discussion and intelligently directed lines of verbal inquiry, all in the service of sowing seeds of shared purpose and intention, a lynchpin of ceremony. Additionally, this psychological, energetic and ceremonial space will be carved out, enlivened and maintained by Kevin Gaudet and his assortment of gongs, drums and primal vocalizations. Further grounding, rest and integration will be gained by sound bath, guided relaxation, and meditative reflection.

This is a practice designed for experienced practitioners, but is open to any experience level willing to show up with the dedication to see a ceremony through, knowing that the success of a ceremony hinges on the true investment of all participants.

Awakening Kundalini Through Hatha and Raj practices

Awakening Kundalini Through Hatha and Raj practices

All branches of yoga practice and philosophy arrive from the same source and result in the same goal of union of the individual with universal consciousness.  Before any brand, styles or school of yoga, there was a source of universal wisdom and all contemporary yoga practices pull on that thread of wisdom and blesses anyone who steps on the path.

Since it’s tantric origins, Hatha and Raja yoga have been in complete reverence of Kundalini Shakti and the states of consciousness she reveals. Hatha and Raja practices establish an inner consecration using geometric body shapes, breathing rituals and mental disciplines designed to surrender to her awakening.

This will be an immersion into the relationship between postures, the energetic anatomy, sound, concentration, bandha/breath rituals and the awakening of Kundalini Shakti through the lens of SATTVA Yoga. A powerful practice to stimulate a blissful and visceral experience of non duality

MYSTIC INDIA - 25 pilgrimage through India sacred Northern cities

Information & REGISTRATION

Journey into India, where every blink of the eye brings something new! With well over a billion people, over 100 native languages and some of the most dynamic landscapes on the planet, there is truly no place like it.

Visiting India can be overwhelming - it's hard to decide where to even begin! To help ensure your trip hits all the right marks, we've taken the time to get to know mother India so we can offer unique access to hidden gems and the most incredible experiences with a renowned teacher and knowledgeable guides.

For those interested in exploring the roots of yoga as a way of life, there is truly no alternative to exploring this sacred practice than in India. The practice has been a part of the very fabric of Indian society for as many as 10,000 years, though some practitioners will tell you it's actually been since the very beginning of time.

For this journey we are partnering with senior SATTVA yoga teacher Andrew Misle. SATTVA Yoga is the merging of two ancient paths within the yoga tradition; that of Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga, a practice steeped in tradition and brought forth for the modern practitioner. Sattva is the quality that yogis point their attention towards, one of balance and making liberation possible. The SATTVA yoga practice was born out of one question, one seat and one mantra. The question is ‘Who Am I,' the seat is meditation, and the mantra is AUM. The sattvic state of being is the best suited for spiritual practice and the journey of transformation.

The explosion of yoga in the western world has been a beautiful thing, as the spread of this positive practice only makes the world a better place. But some key elements have been lost in translation, and going to the source of this magic with SATTVA Yoga can completely transform and elevate your path as a yogi.

Through this 25-day journey you will uncover great wisdom and tradition from the motherland of India. Experience a rich culture and an unwavering warmth amongst a nation of chaos, diversity and growth. The vastness of India sets the stage for a once in a lifetime journey of spirituality, devotion and purpose

My first stop back in Canada is in TO and I will be visiting my dear friend Sabrina at herMODO studio in Mississauga. Sabrina and I go way back to my first training in India and she’s been like a sister since then. She’s got a huge heart, kindred humour, and the openness that brings people together…this is reflected in the yoga community she’s cultivated and I am so happy to go back.

THE GREAT DEVOTEE: HANUMANASANA (FRONT SPLITS)

Hanumanasana (front splits) symbolizes taking a leap of faith as Hanuman did in service to Lord Rama when he leaped across the ocean to Sri Lanka as told in the ancient text of the Ramayana. When performing this asana, one should meditate on overcoming hurdles by inwardly focusing on the breath, opening the gateway to balance, peace of mind, and a deeper connection to Self. This workshop will systematically open your hip flexors while creating stability in your hips and pelvis to access increased flexibility and range of motion. Variations for every body will be explored to assist in developing more depth and ease to this advanced asana.

SATURDAY, MARCH 17TH 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

MY DIVINE SPINE: BACKBENDS

Yogananda Parhmahansa quoted “God is in the Spine”. It is through the spine that we have direct access to the intelligence of the universe. It is the balancing of energies in your spine and the openness of the heart center that can determine the outcome of your spiritual progress. This workshop is designed to help gain clarity as you learn to support the extension of the spine and develop a radiant presence in the heart. We will use the body as a tool to delve deeper and feel more connected to your spiritual practice.
